“SEARCH(LIGHT)” LIVE BI-COASTAL DANCE INSTALLATION WITH KINESIS PROJECT DANCE THEATER, VASHON CENTER FOR THE ARTS & BROOKLYN NAVY YARD

SEARCH(LIGHT) is KINESIS PROJECT DANCE THEATER’S newest work in development.

Featuring dialogues between MELISSA RIKER + REBECCA IRBY, music by SANDBOX PERCUSSION, solo violin by KRISTIN LEE and dance for the camera by MARGARET BEHM, KIMBERLY HOLLOWAY, LORRAINE LAU, ROBERT MOORE, MADELINE MORSER, SUMAYA MULLA-CARRILLO, CLAUDIA-LYNN RIGHTMIRE, THERESE RONCO, NICOLE TRUZZI, HENDRI WALUJO & JEIMIN YANG.

Choreographed by MELISSA RIKER, the installation is inspired by a vision Riker had 6 years ago while witnessing a full pier of “squid jigging” in Seattle. Dock lights beautifully reflecting off the water caught a chaotic, mesmerizing rhythm via the fishing lines — inviting the beginnings of a new work.

SEARCH(LIGHT) will be a live, large-scale dance performance workshop with a bi-coastal cast of 11 dancers (5 NYC + 6 Seattle) acknowledging the physics of light & exploring the science of connection in realtime. From the vast industrial plain of BROOKLYN NAVY YARDS to the stage at VASHON CENTER OF THE ARTS, connecting on MIDHEAVEN.NETWORK.
